Haiku-arrhea: Week 12 in Padres Baseball

In an effort to stay close to our roots, the staff at Padres Public, will offer-up a haiku each Monday to describe the previous week in Padres Baseball. Restricting our feelings to 3 lines and 17 syllables to describe a week of play is a massive undertaking, but (un) fortunately, we are more than up to the task.

The Padres started off the week great in San Francisco and then dropped the next two games to the Giants. Then they returned home to play the Dodgers. The series started great, winning the first two games of the series, and then dropped the next two games. The Padres are 38-38.

Let’s haiku . . .

The Sacrifice Bunt (Melvin)

More fun than we thought

Pitching as bad as we thought

Bring back phantom cam

Son of a Duck

Huston Street at home

Eight bombs in 19 innings

How ’bout those fences?

Left Coast Bias

Pitching a problem

But it is not the starters

Huston Street…le sigh

Vocal Minority (Nate)

The streak is over

They’re mediocre again

Buyers or sellers?

Ghost of Ray Kroc

After 7-game streak,

Padres have come back to Earth.

Dodgers still in last.

Vocal Minority (David)

Huston Street downtown

Albatross Street near downtown

A coincidence?

Avenging Jack Murphy

Slow clap, Venable

This team is hot, Sriracha!

Aw – Street, bullpen woes.

RJ’s Fro

Did not watch many

But I heard Street sucked again

Will he right the ship?

Padres Trail

Bullpen serves them up

Right in the thick of it still

Need reinforcements

I contribute to Padres Public on Thursday mornings and when I’m feeling particularly inspired. I can also be found on twitter at @AvengingJM where I ponder Jason Marquis’ legitimacy, 7 days a week.

  • Oh, you damn Giants!
    Ugh, you goddamn Dodgers fans!
    To hell with this week!
