I was once again a guest on The Kept Faith podcast this week along with Chris Garcia. We discussed FS Investors vs SDSU, the signing of Jered Weaver, and finished off with some baseball movie talk.

Last year they had me on to talk about The Fan, which is arguably one of the worst movies involving baseball ever made. This time, to make it up to me, we talked about Eight Men Out, which is one of my favorite baseball movies.

You can find out where you can listen to it in The Kept Faith’s post. Do it.

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”

A few months ago, I was asked by Padres Jagoff of Gwynntelligence if I would be interested in doing a guest spot on one of their podcasts. I said, “Sure. Why not?”

Many weeks went by. Change the Padres moved to the East Coast. Padres Jagoff forgot about ever asking me. I forgot Padres Jagoff ever asked me.

Then, suddenly, we both remembered that he asked.

After some tense negotiations about who and what we would eventually talk about (re: nothing in particular), we finally recorded it.

Here, then, is that podcast. Over the course of about an hour of mindless chatter, we sum up our feelings on the Padres 2015 season in general, the changes to the radio and television broadcasts for 2016, the state of the Padres blogosphere & Padres twitter, and whether or not the McRib is actually just an unnatural way of cleaning out your digestive tract on an annual basis.

In case you missed it, Sac Bunt Chris and myself had the awesome honor of being on Padres Social Hour last Friday, mere hours after the trade deadline. We both had a blast and a huge thank you goes out to Jesse, Blooper (Seth), Nicky and the poor intern who had to fetch us unwrapped Watermelon Jolly Ranchers, cut into 3rds and soaked in a bowl of strawberry lemonade, during every commercial break. We are so demanding.

This afternoon, after the trade deadline passed with the Padres making just one small move, trading OF Abraham Almonte to Cleveland for LHP Marc Rzepczynski, Padres GM AJ Preller was not made immediately available to the media, let alone me, not the media whatsoever. However, I decided to interview him anyway.

The following is the full transcript of the interview that did not occur this afternoon between myself and AJ Preller. I repeat, these are not quotes from AJ Preller.

VM Nate: AJ, this is Nathan from The Vocal Minority, what’s going on man?

AJ Preller: Not much, dude.

VMN: First, I have a personal question: Do you know Kimble?

AJP: Whoa! EQ Kimble, the insurance man?

VMN: good enough! Nice to speak with you, brother. Fullerton Chapter, Delta class, fall 2000.

AJP: Nice. Fullerton? That’s Costner’s chapter right?

VMN: Yeah, never got to meet him though. Anyway, so the trade deadline just finished up, and you guys were the talk of baseball leading up to it. Then, as the deadline passed, you guys didn’t really do anything. What happened? Read More…

Join us for Part 1 of the highly anticipated Jesse Agler interview! We sit down with the host of Padres POV and occasional TV/Radio broadcaster at Mike Hess Brewing in North Park to chat about what really makes him tick. When he, and his dad, think his love of baseball started, how he got his start in broadcasting, what he remembers from his initial Miami Dolphins interview with Mike Dee, who he reaches out to in San Diego when he needs some broadcasting advice and MORE!

We also chat with Greg Hess and, a familiar name in Padre-land, Cesar Torres, about the ins and outs of Mike Hess Brewing! How they got their start, Hessfest (THIS SATURDAY! GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!), the Open Mike cans, their big plans in OB and North Park and more!

*Due to the file size I had to split up the Jesse Agler interview into 2 parts. Part 2 will be up as soon as my Vimeo account limit refreshes (Monday….I think)

Today is a sad day for me and for many of you reading this. On June 16th, 2014, we lost Mr. Padre Tony Gwynn. I still greatly miss him and Jerry Coleman to this day. They were two legends that meant the world to San Diego, both on and off the field, and can never be replaced. I wanted to do something special for them when they passed away last season so I’ve been working on a Jerry and Tony tribute episode for the past year now and it keeps growing and growing. I’ve already interviewed numerous people that were close to them and there are 3 or 4 more people that I’m hoping to chat with in the coming weeks.

One of those people that I chatted with was Steve Poltz, who performed his amazing tribute song for Tony called “Hey, Hey, Number 19” that I shot and edited. As a tribute to Tony we thought it would be nice to release that portion now.

I hope Tony & Jerry enjoy it from that ballpark in the sky.
