State of the Padres Using Ramones Lyrics

Early last week, as I scrolled through twitter, I found confirmation  that Padres fans were, by and large, an unhappy lot. Losing will make anyone irritable (especially fans who have no real say in the matter), but the Padres 10 game losing streak and free-fall into last place were only the tip of the iceberg. Fans were sniping at one another and the 140 character debates seemed to center around what constituted a “real fan” and how everything and everybody sucked. I tuned out and took a break. After all it’s just baseball and if nothing else – it’s  supposed to be fun.

Over the weekend I heard the Ramones’ “We’re a happy family” and I thought, facetiously, “That’s us!”

The song also referenced Queens, New York and with Everth Cabrera playing in the All Star game today at Citi Field I thought it would be a perfect time to rewrite that Ramones classic.

So push the play button and then sing the lyrics as loud as you can. And have fun. It’s music AND baseball, two things that are supposed to be fun.

Guitar Solo – Time to reflect on the season.

(Without being able to control what happens in the Padres’ front office there has to be a way to make this endeavor fun. Free time should not be spent seething. The consistency of a $1 taco on a Tuesday evening should not send us into a death spiral. Dale Thayer’s beard is awesome. Let’s revel in it.)

*Buddy likes men who are similar to Mark Kotsay: high character, inspirational leaders, who may occasionally get a hit in a pinch.

I apologize to the Ramones.

  • “I Wanna Be Sedated” seems more appropriate.

  • If you want to be literal, yes. But that song wasnt playing on Pandora and it also doesn’t mention Queens.

  • Geoff Hancock

A little perspective via The Ramones is always welcomed.

  • Axion

I can no longer even hear the song of birds.

  • Geoff Young

I don’t want to be buried in a Petco sematary.

  • Any day that includes the Ramones is a good day.
