I like Clayton Richard. He’s one of those players who I want to succeed because he seems like a genuinely good dude. But it’s been rough going for the big lefty this season. Richard is surrendering 2.4 HR/9 and 5.8 BB/9 while missing few bats with a K/9 of 4.4. Richard is 0-4 with an ERA of 8.54 in 2013 and in his last three starts he’s averaging a brutal 3.1 innings.
Unfortunately for Clayton Richard last night was no different. He was gone in the 4th inning after giving up 7 runs, 5 of which were earned.
Fortunately for me I missed it. I spent the day in Westchester listening to a man tell me about Germany during World War II and how, as a small boy, he would look up and watch as British and American planes blanketed the sky prior to bombing runs.
Since I missed the game I asked Padres fans the following . . .
I missed tonight’s game. I’d like to hear Clayton Richard’s performance described using a five word phrase. Go #PPLive

Will it get better for Clayton Richard? Give me your answer in 4 words. Go!
I contribute to Padres Public on Thursday mornings and when I’m feeling particularly inspired. I can also be found on twitter at @AvengingJM where I . . . am . . . 7 days a week.
